Uproute is all about telling stories from a wide-range of perspectives. We want to be able to communicate our message in different ways and offer a vast array of content. In order to do this, we have decided to classify our content under different tabs so that it is easier for you to find what you are looking for. We have a total of six tabs each providing different types of content.
News:
Our first tab offers news stories that relate to the topics that we write about in our main pieces. These include things having to do with addiction, recovery, homelessness, prison, immigration and positive community change. We want to be able to provide reliable news to our readers as well as being a source for longer-form content.
Real Voices:
Real Voices is the section that holds all of our profile pieces. These are features and first-hand accounts of people who have been through extraordinary circumstances and have managed to change their lives and the lives of others. These pieces almost always include in-depth interviews.
Uproute Toolkit:
The Uproute Toolkit is a hub for tools that people can use to better themselves. Often, these tools are aimed at helping people overcome very difficult or systemic challenges. They are also tools for small steps that anyone can take in order to better their situation. Expect content in this section to be in list format containing expert voices.
Crafting Change:
Crafting Change documents ways in which people have used creative outlets (music, writing, dance, cooking and more) to empower themselves. The content is a rich mixture of different styles and formats. Everything from lists to profiles are available here.
Deep Dives:
These are in-depth pieces that explain and examine topical subjects. The aim is to unpack a very complicated issue with nuance, empathy, and vigour. Here you will find long-form features packed with expert voices, data and personal testimony.
